Water tower beautification project...HAVE YOUR SAY!

Helen Riley from Artrageous Community Arts Inc. and Di Hill from the Beachmere Area Network Group (BANG) had a great day at the Spring Fair on the 17th October gathering community ideas for a mural design on the water tower.  There were many discussions and excellent ideas for designs left with us.

BANG and Artrageous have been working together on this initiative for almost a year now, after beautification of the water tower was identified as an area of interest by the local community at the 2014 Spring Fair.  Since then Helen (a local resident and President of Artrageous Community Arts) has been liaising with Unitywater and gained approval for a mural to be carried out on the bottom section of the water tower facing the roundabout.  This involves an area approx. 6 meters wide by 2 meters high.  It is envisaged that the mural artwork will be composed of mixed media - ceramics, mosaics, glass, painting or other.

Community consultation and involvement in the whole project is a key element of this initiative.  At this stage community support is being gathered to accompany a grant application to fund the project. Letters,of support have been requested from community organisations and local businesses, as well as elected government representatives.  Many have been received, while others need to be followed up.

More opportunities to show your support and have your say about design are coming up.  Helen will be at the Beachmere State School Open Day on 30th October and outside the IGA as often as possible through November.  Once grant funding has been achieved, community consultation and involvement will continue to be a priority.  You can also have your say through email and or mail to the addresses below.
