For those living in the fire's path our thoughts are with you...and please let us know if you need assistance such as moving stock.

As for the smoke inhalation issue the air over the township is clearer the further south you go. Unfortunately the wind is currently freshening and may not begin to die down until after 7pm tonight.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is advising: 

A large grass fire continues to burn between Wallace Road South and Bishop Road, Beachmere. The fire is currently moving in a southerly direction and firefighters are actively conducting property protection on Wallace Road South and Bishop Road. 

Sixty firefighters are working across 20 fire appliances in an effort to contain the blaze. Two aircraft are also conducting air reconnaissance and water bombing in the area. 

The smoke hazard will continue to affect the Beachmere community this afternoon and residents are urged to remain vigilant and keep updated. 

The fire, which broke out around 3pm yesterday, is approximately 750 acres in size. The cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious and is under investigation.
